Remembering Sen. Kennedy's support for fishermen

The late U.S. Sen. Edward M. "Ted" Kennedy now has a permanent place of remembrance at the Gloucester Fishermen's Wives Memorial.

Although he was neither from Gloucester nor lost at sea, "the lion of the Senate," who was felled by cancer last summer, was honored for his unstinting support for the fishing industry...

More and more, Americans are interested in buying ands eating seafood that they know has been caught in a sustainable manner.

Strong public interest in sustainable seafood is also fueling an impressive movement in Gloucester, in other parts of New England and around the nation — to connect local fishermen more directly with local consumers as farmer's markets have long connected local farmers with consumers.
